ELT and Workplace English Classes

Our Centres offer specialized language training for Newcomers preparing to enter the Canadian workplace. These courses are designed to improve English language skills and prepare students for success at work. Students will:

  • Learn relevant vocabulary and business idioms.
  • Uncover the basics of effective communication.
  • Gain confidence in speaking in front of others by learning how to prepare and deliver professional presentations as well as give and receive feedback.
  • Enhance their written communication skills including how to compose clear and effective email messages

Material will include the workplace environment, Canadian corporate culture and the importance of developing cultural intelligence (CQ) in today’s multicultural workplace. The course will cover different management styles and how they relate to leadership, the characteristics of a good leader and situational leadership, negative and positive leadership and the “Canadian management style.”
Students will also be able to meet with an Employment Specialist to learn how to create an effective cover letter and résumé, practice their interview skills, and get connected to employers who are hiring.
Enhanced Language Training is a full time, 12-week program for Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees. Classes are Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2:30 pm at 3350 South Service Rd. Burlington.
Workplace English classes are a part-time 12-week program available to Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees and Refugee Claimants as well as new Canadian Citizens. Class schedule:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 9 am to 11:30 am at 465 Morden Road Unit 109, Oakville
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at 550 Ontario St. S, Milton
