Spring Job Fair - Connecting Job Seekers with Opportunities

Jun 11, 2019

On June 4, job seekers and employers connected at Centre for Skills Development Spring Job Fair held at the Haber Recreation Centre in Burlington.

Throughout the afternoon, roughly 90 interested community members met with 25+ employers throughout Halton Region to learn about job opportunities, share their resumes, and make new connections in the workforce.

"Job Fairs are integral to our company's success because they allow us to meet candidates who are excited for a new opportunity that we may have not met otherwise," says Stephanie Gerritsen, Manager of Employee Experience & Team Development from Up Level. From the job fair, Stephanie and her colleague were able to schedule nine candidates for interviews.

These job fairs provide opportunity for both the employer and interested applicants to connect face-to-face, and discuss what options are available to them. Employers in attendance ranged from the service sector, business, energy, health care, skilled trades and more.

"We hire for a variety of positions, while many people think it would strictly be for healthcare positions, that is not the case. For example, we are actively seeking job seekers for housekeeping and cooking," says Reanna Klamot, from Seasons Retirement Communities.
