The general assembler for the sub-assembly and assembly bench stations will be assisting the manufacturing teams with the assembly of a variety of products. Together with other team members, the general assembler works to exceed production expectations, ensuring quality is maintained while working within deadlines and paying close attention to the engineering specifications and drawings. Additionally, the general assembler will perform routine tasks such as cleaning and doing preventative maintenance on workstations and tools, while also ensuring safety guidelines are followed within the workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Clean and maintain work area during and after shift
  • Operate within standard operating procedures and job safety guidelines
  • Assemble products in accordance to engineering specifications and/or drawings
  • Complete production orders with highest level of quality and within allocated standard time
  • Troubleshoot production issues, as necessary
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required
  • Communicate with employees from other shifts
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, interpret and execute work according to engineering drawings
  • Must have mechanical/electrical aptitude, accustomed to working hands on with tools
  • Ability to read work orders and complete tasks on time
  • Must be able to work independently yet collaborate with peers
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Problem solving aptitude and solution-oriented approach to abnormalities
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Working knowledge of safe lifting practices
  • Ability to lift up to 40 - 60 pounds safely
  • General knowledge of manufacturing techniques

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • LEAN manufacturing experience is an asset
