The Electrical Controls Designer will work using computer aided design (CADD) software to create detailed and complex diagrams and models of electrical systems along with associated documentation (Bill of Materials, work scope, etc.), and also to revise existing drawings as necessary in accordance with client standards. The Designer will also be responsible for providing technical support to the teams and will be expected to maintain proper communication with the client and with team members. Job Description:
  • Creating electrical diagrams for industrial control panels. (Motor Control Panels, PLC Panels, Relay Panels, etc.)
  • Create electrical schematics including bill of material, power schematics, control schematics, panel layouts, terminal layouts, cable overviews, I/O lists and general notes. This may come from written or verbal instructions.
  • Design to UL508A and local electrical codes
  • Create 2D and 3D drawings as required
  • Perform drafting of field mark-ups for record drawings.
  • Managing drafting standards, templates and cells.
  • Create and store documents electronically.
  • Liaise with customers and team members for regular communication and feedback on work progress.
  • Make site visits as required.
  • Train and provide technical support to drafting team members.
  • Assist with project preparation and close-out
  • Quote panel schematic and build time to customer
  • Procure parts from vendors
  • Support team members in filling out project paperwork
Qualifications:
  • Intermediate level – minimum of 6+ years' design experience in Industrial Electrical Design
  • Junior level – less than 6 years of experience design in Industrial Electrical Design
  • Proficient with drafting/drawing software including but not limited to Eplan, AutoCAD.
  • Experience modelling 2D and 3D within AutoCAD or other industry accepted 3D modelling software an asset
