CUSTOMER SERVICE | Workplace Language and Skills

Join our Free Workplace Language and Skills for Customer Service Program! 

This 6-week full time program is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and is available to newcomers who are interested in learning more about careers in the customer service field in Ontario. 

You will learn and practice: 

  • Overview of the Canadian customer service field 
  • Job-specific language (customer service) 
  • Knowledge of Canadian workplace culture   
  • Understanding of Canada's diverse customer base 
  • Customer service pathways to employment 
  • Customer service labour market 
  • Soft skills enhancement 
  • Business communication skills 
  • Conflict resolution strategies 
  • Resume and cover letters 
  • Job search strategies and interview practice 
  • Connection to employers 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Adult immigrants (18+) who are residents of Ontario
  • Naturalized Canadian citizens, permanent residents, convention refugees or refugee claimants
  • VISA Permit holders who are admitted under a federal caregiver program with a pathway to permanent residency 
  • You have achieved Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4+
If you answered “Yes” to any of the above including having a CLB Level 4+and you are interested in pursuing a career in customer service, then this program might be for you.

Program Sessions

  1.  Jan 8, 2024 – Feb 16, 2024 - January session is full. 
  2.  Mar 4, 2024 – April 12, 2024 -March session is full. 
  3.  April 29, 2024 – Jun 7, 2024 - We are now accepting registrations for April 2024.

The program is scheduled to be online 
 
Can I pursue a career in Customer Service upon program completion?
The focus of this program is assist participants get on the path to a career in customer service in Canada. 
 
How does Centre for Skills help with my job search?
Participants will receive assistance to create a career action plan and connect them to employers. Participants will also have access to a variety of workshops to help them prepare to job search and work in the industry.
 
Are there any costs associated with taking the program?
There is no cost on the participant to attend the training.
